CBD may neutralize smoking cues
According to a 2018 study published in the journal Addiction, CBD can reverse the attentional bias to cigarette cues. In other words, you won’t feel triggered to smoke as often.
Researchers at University College London told 30 tobacco smokers not to smoke for 12 hours before treating them with either 800 mg of oral CBD or a placebo.
The participants were then shown a series of photos alternating between smoking-related images and neutral images.
Although CBD did not affect general withdrawals or cravings, it did make the smoking-related images less appealing.
At the same time, patients in the CBD group had lower systolic blood pressure than the placebo group.
According to the study’s authors, “These results suggest that…CBD may exert anti‐addictive effects by normalizing the salience of drug cues.”
CBD may reduce nicotine cravings
Hindocha’s study builds on a pilot study that was published five years earlier in the journal Addictive Behaviors.
24 smokers were given a CBD inhaler or a placebo inhaler and were told to smoke it whenever they had nicotine cravings.
Over the course of seven days participants in the CBD group smoked 40 percent fewer cigarettes. The placebo group, however, experienced no change in the number of cigarettes smoked.
CBD may help fight addiction
Plus, CBD may have neurobiological effects on the brain circuitry related to drug cravings.
Due to CBD’s broad effects, neuroscientists predict that, “CBD has therapeutic potential relevant for multiple conditions that underlie relapse risk, including craving induced by drug-related environmental contexts, susceptibility to stress, heightened anxiety and, possibly, impaired impulse control.”

And it’s a very good question to ask! Because how you choose to store your CBD flower can have a huge impact on the quality of the experience.
Improperly stored CBD flower can often have less nose and a less enjoyable taste. Worst of all, improperly stored flower can experience terpene degradation which means a less effective and less soothing experience.
To properly store CBD hemp flower:
- Keep your flower in an airtight jar
- But don’t pack the jar too full
- Store your flower in a dark, dry space
- Avoid direct sunlight and heat
- Avoid excessively opening the jar
- But be sure to open it at least once a day to allow for the exchange of oxygen

Can you buy CBD hemp flower in Texas?
House Bill 1325 signed by the Governor of Texas in June 2019, states that the processing and manufacturing of hemp flower is prohibited for Texas farmers. But, nothing in the Bill says anything about consumption. The key takeaway? CBD hemp flower is legal to consume in Texas. However …
Early in 2020, regulators at the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) issued rules extending that ban on the manufacture of hemp to also forbid the retail sale of any smokable hemp products. And while this regulation has been challenged in court, litigation is still pending.
This means that at least for now, while it is legal to consume smokeable CBD in Texas, it could be difficult for Texas residents to find in retail locations.
So for now, it is easiest (and safest) for Texas residents to purchase their CBD hemp flower online.
